This workshop has been designed to meet the continuing education training requirement for Social Workers in the state of Maryland and Pennsylvania. However, it is appropriate for anyone working with older adults.
Objectives
Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:

Understand why difficult behaviors occur and identify those at risk.

Understand the causes of difficult behavior (e.g., emotional factors, physical health, the environment) and recognize when behavior is likely to occur.

Identify common behavioral problems and implement plans to eliminate or reduce the likelihood of the behavior’s occurrence.

Understand needs of caregivers and develop plans to reduce caregiver burn-out.

12:45-1:15 Causes, risk factors and disease processes associated with difficult behavior.
1:15-2:15 Examination of common problems and how to reduce their prevalence.
2:15-2:45 Caregiver needs.

3-3:30 Applying the framework.
3:30-4 Wrap-up discussion.
4-4:15 Closing remarks and evaluation.
