Personally owned routers are
strictly prohibited on the McDaniel College Campus, including all residence halls, North Village and Garden Apartments, and college-owned houses on Pennsylvania Avenue.
Given that personally owned routers can and have caused the McDaniel College Network to become unavailable to students in the past, we cannot afford to jeopardize the whole community's purposeful use of the web for either academic or recreational purposes.
Any student found using a personal router on the McDaniel College Network will face the following repercussions:
- $150.00 fine, charged to the student’s McDaniel College Tuition Account.
- Disablement of the said router.
- Loss of network privileges for a period of no less than 7 days.
These include:
- The ability to log on to the McDaniel College Network through Cisco Clean Access.
- The ability to play video game consoles online (e.g. Xbox Live, Playstation Network, etc.).
A subsequent violation of this policy will result in disciplinary action through the honor system.
