WESTMINSTER –The McDaniel College Peace Club presents “Inner Peace,” a lecture by Buddhist Monk Shante Sujatha at 3:30 p.m. Nov. 13 in Hill Hall, Room 108.
The lecture is free and open to the public.
Born in Kandy, Sri Lanka, in 1967, Bhante Sujatha entered the monastery in 1978. Two years after higher ordination, he traveled to Australia in 1993 where he taught meditation and Buddhism for four years at the monastery before coming to the United States.
Bhante Sujatha, who has an easy-going approach to teaching, says he “believes in change, rather than tradition,” particularly when dealing with life in our fast-paced Western society. His teachings are simple and straightforward, so that even beginners can understand how to practice meditation and apply the spiritual teachings to their lives.
Bhante Sujatha is pursuing a degree in Psychology at McHenry County College, where he has taught a meditation class since 2003. He also is the founder of the Blue Lotus Buddhist Temple in Woodstock, Illinois.
