Meet Parent Volunteers Celeste and Doug White

When Celeste and Doug White, parents of Erin ('03) and Parent Chairs of the McDaniel College Annual Fund, first contacted the Office of Alumni Affairs to find out more information for their daughter, little did they know they were making contacts that would last a lifetime.

Doug, self-employed owner of Matrix Systems and Celeste, Assistant to the Chief Financial Officer at the National Board of Medical Examiners for 23 years, were eager to join the efforts of the Annual Giving Office. "We enjoy the feel of the campus and try to put ourselves in that environment whenever we can," Celeste said.

The White's and the Office of Annual Giving are forming a Parents Giving Committee, which will help parents stay connected to the College through parent events and a bi-annual parent's newsletter.

Celeste and Doug also want to spread the word about McDaniel College and the importance of participation in the Annual Fund. They support McDaniel College because they know that full tuition covers only 71% of the cost of their daughter's education. "We consider our support an investment in Erin's education."

Their dedication goes beyond financial support. A prime example happened when the Women's Basketball team played Bryn Mawr. The White's decided to host the entire team — including coaches, parents and bus driver — for dinner. "We had a great time and truly enjoy being involved."
