Student Health Services
The Health Center provides free medical and health consultations to all full-time McDaniel College students. Nominal fees will be charged for some services and prescription medications.

Appointment Hours

When you are ill or have a health concern, the best thing to do is to call the Health Center for an appointment. Our office hours are Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Health Center is located on the 2nd Floor of Winslow Center.

Appointments are scheduled:
Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Last appointment at 3:45 p.m.

We make every effort to accommodate walk-ins for urgent matters.

For emergencies after hours, call Campus Safety, ext. 2202.

Clinic Services

  • Medical treatment for minor illnesses and injuries, including suturing of minor lacerations.
  • Over-the-counter and prescription medication for treatment of common illnesses.
  • Mononucleosis test, rapid Strep test, urinalysis and urine pregnancy test, done in the clinic while you wait.
  • Blood draw in the clinic for other testing and sent to referral lab.
  • GYN clinic by appointment for: annual exams, contraceptives and pregnancy counseling.
  • Sexually transmitted disease testing
  • Male health information
  • Self-care cold clinic
  • PPD (tuberculin skin testing)
  • Some immunizations available, including meningitis
  • Referrals arranged – Know how to use your insurance.
  • Allergy shots at clinic's discretion. Allergy shots that cannot be done at our facility, such as new starts, wasp or bee venom and maintenance of multiple shots (more than 2 per visit) can be arranged by calling Maryland Asthma and Allergy Center. Call 410-486-2000.

Other Services

  • Assistance with concerns regarding alcohol, sexually transmitted diseases, pregnancy, AIDS, wellness, weight control, acne, and eating disorders
  • Referrals to specialists/facilities (fees incurred off campus are your responsibility).
  • Verification of absences to professors when you are treated and release forms signed in the Health Center. Notification to professors of an extended absence (five or more days) due to medical reasons.

Health Education

Various educational programs are offered by the Student Health Center throughout the year. Please look for flyers announcing programs. Topics may include: smoking cessation, acupuncture, massage or women's heath issues. Students may also request programming by calling ext. 2243 or emailing jlusby@mcdaniel.edu.  

Health Insurance

The College requires health insurance and offers a comprehensive health insurance program which includes 80% of all reasonable expenses of accident and sickness with maximum of $10,000 payment benefits and provides for 24-hour protection for students both on and off campus. The College insurance plan is mandatory for all International Students. For more infomation see the Insurance Info/Waiver page.

Prescription Plan

Know how and where to use your prescription plan. Rite Aid, CVS, Safeway and Epic-Rexall pharmacies are within walking distance of the campus.
