Each first year student is assigned a specially selected and trained peer mentor. The peer mentor is a successful undergraduate who has been chosen to represent a specific first year seminar.
In matching peer mentors with McDaniel’s first year seminar class, students will have the social support they need to transition to college life, both personally and academically.
Peer mentors help first-year students to:
- Meet other students
- Find new ways to anticipate and solve typical first year problems
- Get involved in McDaniel academic and social activities
- Become acquainted with McDaniel’s resources
