McDaniel College

Washington, DC
Just 56 miles south of McDaniel there’s a world of experience: internships, off-campus study, theatre and music venues, and historical sites. Washington, D.C., offers terrific opportunities, arts, and culture—and some of the museums are free.

Academic projects: In recent years, McDaniel history students have done projects in Washington at The Library of Congress, the National Archives,  and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

Internships: Through a new collaboration with The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars, McDaniel students can spend a semester in D.C., working and earning credit.

Museums: A little known fact is that the Smithsonian is actually a complex of many museums, including the Anacostia Museum & Center for African American History and Culture, the National Air and Space Museum, and the National Postal Museum (really).  And, of course, the Smithsonian complex is just the beginning. More museums…

Music: There’s tons, from events at the Kennedy Center (upscale) to the Black Cat (punk). Let’s Go offers a list of the hottest venues.

Other fun: Cherry blossoms, senate debates, a new baseball team:
it’s hard to keep up. Luckily, there’s an official site for visitors to D.C.
