Political science majors in the areas of government, political science, public administration, and international relations are eligible for membership in Pi Sigma Alpha, the national political science honor society, if they have attained academic distinction in political science and all other academic work.

The scholastic requirements for Omicron Nu, McDaniel’s chapter, are higher than the national minimum. To be invited, a student must have junior standing with at least an overall 3.0 GPA, a 3.25 GPA in political science courses, have completed at least nine hours of advanced course work (2000- and 300-level courses) in political science, and have received Cs or higher in every political science class.

Omicron Nu has sponsored lunches with faculty to discuss their areas of interest, induct new members and explore graduate school options. Members of the chapter also become teaching assistants in the department and participate in internships on and off campus.
