When you ask “Why McDaniel?” you get lots of different answers — even from the experts.  (In fact, we invite you to ask a student or a parent. They’re happy to share.). We find that all these answers seem to boil down to a few outstanding aspects of life here:

The people you’ll meet 
Friendly, open-minded, willing to try new things: the students, professors, and staff who are attracted to McDaniel are all those things, and more. You’ll make life-long friends; you’ll be inspired by your approachable and accomplished professors;you’ll learn 24-7,about living with friends, becoming a leader,  and collaborating on research, as well as things you may have wondered for years.

The things you’ll do
Scuba dive in Belize during January Term, work in Washington, D.C. for academic credit, design your own major, complete a unique capstone project, do a semester at sea or a year in Budapest,  compete in varsity athletics (more than a quarter of students do), sing, act, and write — and did we mention the incredible people you’ll be doing these things with? The things you’ll do after McDaniel
According to a recent survey, 98 percent of the class of 2004 began careers or advanced study within months of graduation. So what are they doing? Sarah Vannoy ’04 and James Lipchock’04 are both pursuing doctorates at Yale University. Painter Sara Lundberg ’94 illustrates children’s books about monsters and angels, and travels around the world.
