MaybankMaybank named Outstanding Performer, men's basketball picks up sportsmanship award

Broderick Maybank '06 (left) walked away with two gold medals and the outstanding performer award at the Centennial Conference Track & Field Championships hosted by the Green Terror May 5-7. Maybank threw down NCAA Qualifying marks in both the long jump and the triple jump on his way to both titles. He also took home a silver in the 100-meter dash.

Matt Rouse ’07 picked up a silver in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and Joe Palkovic ’06 finished third in the decathlon.

The women's squad was led by Kristy Costa ’06 with three silver medals in the discus, javelin and heptathlon. Kelly Gruber ’06 and Blair Taylor ’07 went one-two in the 400-meter dash.

Green Terror men’s basketball was honored with the College Basketball Official’s Association’s Schoenfeld Sportsmanship Award May 12. This award is presented annually to the college basketball team that best exemplifies highest degree of sportsmanship, character and ethics among their players, coaches and spectators.

McDaniel softball lost two straight match-ups at the Centennial Conference Championships May 6, dropping games against host Haverford 1-6 and Swarthmore 4-8. Samantha Smith ’06 drilled the ball over the fence for the Green Terror’s lone run versus Haverford. McDaniel softball wraps up spring at 21-21, 8-8 in conference.
