The McDaniel PlanLong before New York Times columnist and three-time Pulitzer Prize winner Thomas Friedman famously declared in his book by the same title that "the world is flat," the McDaniel College faculty began examining how best to prepare students to become successful citizens of the hyper-connected, hyper-kinetic global community.

The redesign of the general education curriculum, The McDaniel Plan, emphasizes intellectual skills that will be crucial to graduates: critical thinking, cogent writing, analytic reading, persuasive public speaking, effective collaboration, the ability to adapt to change and bridge cultural differences.
