McDaniel College

Residency Requirements
At McDaniel, all first-, second-, and third-year students live on campus.

This residency requirement supports the College's educational philosophy, which emphasizes the value of community and close student interactions.

Four Years & Beyond

All full-time undergraduate students are guaranteed College housing for four years. Students who wish to live on campus for a fifth year are assigned on a space-available basis after other returning and new students have been placed.

Exceptions

Exceptions to the residency requirement are made for those who live nearby with their parents, are married, or are over age 24 or part-time. For transfer students, residency is similarly expected for all except the final year.

Each year in April, just prior to room-draw, the Residence Life office reviews requests  from students who want to live off campus, but who do not meet the criteria noted above. Decisions are based on an evaluation of the individual request as well as consideration of housing capacity compared to projected usage.
