The general room-selection process is done by a lottery. Students can pick a lottery number once they have paid the non-refundable $200 housing deposit and all outstanding student-account balances. Certain types of housing at McDaniel have a separate selection process.

Roommates

Residence Life staff will match students with a roommate based on the information provided on the Room Assignment Questionnaire. Students may select a roommate in advance by indicating their preference on that questionnaire. Only mutual requests will be honored.

Students will be sent a housing confirmation, which includes the housing assignment and roommate name, address, and phone number, in early August. Room changes are permitted after the first two weeks of classes, after contacting a member of the Residence Life staff. Changes will be approved on the basis of cause and the availability of space.
