Director of Residence Life
The Director provides overall direction and leadership for the residence life program. S/he supervises the Area Coordinators, works with the staff to create the parameters for community development efforts within the residence halls, serves as a hearing officer for the Student Affairs judicial process, and oversees the budget for the department. The Director also serves on various divisional and campus wide committees or task forces.
Office Manager
The Office Manager for the Office of Residence Life coordinates all front-line communication with our office. Inquiries from students, parents, faculty, staff, and external individuals or businesses often begin with the Office Manager and are either addressed for forwarded on to the responsible party. The Office Manager also provides administrative support to the Director and Area Coordinators.
Area Coordinators
Area Coordinators (ACs) are full-time, twelve month, professional staff responsible for the administration and operation of two or more residence halls, including supervision and training of undergraduate staff, educational and social program planning, administration of the judicial system, administering housing assignments and billing information for their residents, and responding to crisis situations. Area Coordinators serve as an excellent point of contact to follow up with residential students that might be raising concerns for faculty or administrators on campus.
Resident Assistant
Resident Assistants (RAs) are undergraduate staff members that work to fulfill the McDaniel College belief that living in residence provides the student with an essential part of their education. The RA works under the direction of the Area Coordinator in fulfilling a role extending into all aspects of the student’s physical, social, emotional, educational, and psychological well being.
