The changing role of the Reading Specialist quite naturally mirrors the consistently evolving forces in the education community, and indeed, in the larger sphere of a diverse and highly technological society.  The McDaniel College program reflects a commitment not only to keeping pace with the changes in society and within the profession, but to providing leadership in literacy education.  Furthermore, McDaniel College candidates are encouraged to view professional development as a career-long effort and responsibility.
