Philanthropy is the fabric of an everlasting relationship McDaniel College seeks between itself and its students. So who can be a McDaniel College philanthropist? Anyone - from a 2008 grad making a $25 phonathon pledge to the Annual Fund, to the '80's alumnae contributing to a particular sport through the Green and Gold Club.

Your gifts are working...

Every gift makes a difference to the students of McDaniel College. Whether it is a $25 gift providing one zebra fish for Professor Bill Long's collaborative research with his students or six gifts of $50 combining to fund an American Mock Trial Simulation in Political Science class, every gift counts - and is deeply appreciated.

Tuition covers about 72 percent of the cost of a McDaniel education. The generosity of donors like you helps bridge the gap even as the expense of exceeding our own high standards continues to rise. A "smart" classroom, fully equipped with state-of-the-art technology, costs $6,500. A pottery wheel for art students is $800, a reference set for the library is $1,000, and the officials for all of the athletic events during Homecoming week totaled $1,600.   Each year your gifts generate more than $15 million dollars directed to create new educational opportunities for all deserving students. These dollars also make it possible for students to achieve their career goals and ambitions. Some of the never-ending costs the Annual Fund pays include:

Thousands of alumni, parents and friends each year give to The Annual Fund by making pledges and gifts through our student Phonathon program, known as the Hill Toppers. Our students love engaging alumni in conversation about campus life today. Social Work major Emily Bridgewater ’10 is such an engaging Phonathoner, alumni pledged more than $9,000 in just two months through her efforts.
