McDaniel College has two buildings dedicated to the art program, Peterson Hall and The Studio.
Peterson Hall
This building was first dedicated in 1909 as the College’s administration building and library. During the 1930’s it was used exclusively for the library. It was first remodeled for art classes in 1963. Its most recent restoration was completed in the Spring of 1995 when the building was named in honor of Clementine and Duane Peterson.
Peterson Hall has art history, graphic design, computer graphics, photography and design classes as well as offices. Also housed here is the Henry and Janet Lewis Computer Graphics Lab.
Rice Gallery
The Esther Prangley Rice Gallery is located on the top floor of Peterson Hall, we have many regional and national artists who exhibit their work here as well as the frequent student shows that occurr. Our McDaniel College Permanent Collection is also in the Rice Gallery.
The Studio
The Studio is home to our "messier" disciplines such as painting, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, jewelry and drawing classes. The Studio with its skylit spaces and good ventilation is an excellent space for these media. The studio also houses the McDaniel College collection of Death Masks
