About Honors
The Honors Program was instutited by the faculty to provide a more challenging education for academically talented students and was designed to offer more to highly motivated and enthusiastic students. These students have integrity, are open to new ideas, and are leaders on campus. They take challenging courses in many areas, maintain high grades, and excel both inside and outside the classroom. The Program offers opportunities in curriculum, housing, and extra-curricular activities. The curriculum is composed of specially designed liberal arts courses taught in innovative ways. Honors housing allows students to live together and continue the dialogue begun in class. Extra-curricular activities encourage the development of ideas in other formats. The program provides for individual study, particularly the Senior Honors project, which students carry out according to the specification of their major department. Elected leadership roles are availalbe within the Program and students are encouraged to pursue them.
