McDaniel’s home away from home…
When Marton Galambos, a
communication and
business administration double major, received his degree from McDaniel College in 2004, he’d spent one year on McDaniel’s Westminster campus, two years on the
Budapest campus, and his fourth year in a
study-abroad program.
His experience is unusual. At most colleges across the nation, students are usually required to spend at least two years studying on their American campus. But McDaniel has two campuses where students can fulfill their residency: the one in Westminster, Md., and one in Budapest, Hungary.
McDaniel College Budapest is very similar to the Westminster campus: all courses are taught in English, complete financial aid is available, grades and credits are similar. And yet there are many wonderful differences: Field trips take students to Vienna and Szentendre; an evening out is an evening in a storied European city; and the student body is even more international than on the Westminster campus. Curious? You can email recent participants.
In addition to studying on the Budapest campus, McDaniel students have the opportunity to study abroad for a semester or two. So, like Galambos, who studied one year in Germany, McDaniel students have the opportunity to live in multiple countries during their four-year college experience. That’s thinking globally!
