Pen Pals
Writing is easy when you get a little help from your friends.

Huge writing assignment does not equal huge headache — well, when you use the Writing Center, that is.  McDaniel students from all majors seek help at the college’s Writing Center, where they are greeted by their peers.

What’s so great about peer tutors? Well, aside from possessing above-average writing skills, this select group of 15 students is nurturing, kind, compassionate, and has a great sense of humor. This is not happenstance. As director of the center, Lisa Breslin, an English professor, chooses the tutors very carefully. It is a part of the tutors' job to raise confidence in students’ writing ability — and often, inspiring relationships between tutor and student are formed. The tutors come from all disciplines, so if you are a biology student and want help from a science major, you can request a specific tutor when making the appointment.

The Center is open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to midnight — and it’s always full, so booking ahead is wise. And for those who have non-school assignments (like resumes or graduate school applications) — despair not.  If writing is involved, you’ve got a friend.
