Nearly 3,000 alumni, parents, friends and students bundled up Oct. 7 for McDaniel College 's annual Homecoming celebration.
The weekend featured a Saturday morning dedication of a new campus walkway in memory of Football Coach Robert J. Waldorf. Read more about the dedication. Affinity reunions brought friends together from the Catholic Campus Ministry, Honors Program, Office of Multicultural Service, military alumni, athletic teams and Greek life. Urban radio station 92Q broadcast live Oct. 5 from outside Englar Dining Hall as part of its Homecoming tour.
Tailgating parties encircled the stadium and fans cheered on Green Terror football to a 17-14 win over Gettysburg. Trustee Charlie Moore ’71 was honored as Alumnus of the Year during halftime.
Other alumni honored on Oct. 6 include Lucy Purcell Lutche ’86, Corinne Schofield LesCallette ’52, and Robert Scott ’66 for community service; Jack Baile ’62 and Pam Zappardino ’71 for college service; and Susanne Laws Haga ’94, Milton Huber ’43, and Frank Stephenson ’49 for professional achievement.
Also during halftime, the College presented the James Brant Memorial Cup, given to the greek organization that has performed the most comunity service, to Jason Fratto ’07, representing Alpha Sigma Phi.
Seven former Green Terror athletes were inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame Oct. 5: Karen L. Alexander ’96, Robert Cuthrell ’60, Claudia Henemyre-Harris ’92, Robert Merrey ’71, Colleen Gohegan Rosberry ’84, Julie Cox Schultz ’96 and Brian Van Deusen ’96.
McDaniel swept all other Homecoming games. Green Terror volleyball beat Muhlenberg College 3-2, women’s soccer overcame Haverford 2-1, and men’s soccer pummeled Ursinus College 5-0.
