In Centennial Conference Green Terror football Oct. 7, Jay Leonard ’09 converted a career-long 46-yard field goal attempt with 2.7 seconds remaining in the game to break a 14-all tie and catapult McDaniel to a 17-14 win over Gettysburg College Oct. 7. Eric Zwilsky ’10 rushed for 64 of the Green Terror’s season-high 130 yards on the ground, including the team’s first running score of the season.
Drew Abbamonte ’07 has been named the Centennial Conference (CC) Football Defensive Player of the Week while Leonard has been named the CC Football Special Teams Player of the Week. The Green Terror returns to action at 1 p.m. Oct. 14 at home against Dickinson College.
In Centennial Conference women’s soccer, Kelly Neel ’09 scored in the 108th minute of play to lift McDaniel to a 2-1 victory Oct. 7 over Haverford College. The double-overtime victory for the Green Terror (4-7, 3-3 CC) avenges last season’s 3-0 loss to the Fords (4-6-1, 3-2 CC). The Green Terror returns to action at 3 p.m. Oct. 9 at home against the University of Rutgers-Newark.
In Centennial Conference volleyball Oct. 7, Alice Hardwick ’10 set a new program record with 47 digs, leading McDaniel to a 3-2 victory over Muhlenberg College. The Green Terror (13-4, 5-0 CC) came out strong, winning the first of five games 30-19. The Green Terror returns to action at 7 p.m. Oct 11 at home against Franklin & Marshall.
In Centennial Conference (CC) men’s soccer action Oct. 7, Andrew Cherenzia ’10 assisted on three goals to give McDaniel to a 5-0 victory over Ursinus College. Entering the game with the all-time series deadlocked at 12-12-1, the Green Terror (6-5, 2-3 CC) pulled ahead of the Bears (1-8-2, 0-4 CC) with 13 total wins. McDaniel returns to action at 4 p.m. Oct. 10 at Haverford College.
In the men’s cross-country Dickinson Long-Short Invitational Oct. 7, Matt Rouse ’07 finished 11th in the 8,100-meter race to lead the team to an eighth-place finish. In the uniquely scored meet that combines the top three place finishers from both a long course and short course, the Green Terror men finished 15th with 146 points among the 20 teams that competed in the long course of 8,100 meters. The Green Terror returns to action at 10 a.m. Oct 14 at the Gettysburg Invitational.
