Assistant Dean for First Year Students

The Assistant Dean carries out the responsibilities of academic advisement, retention, and academic services for first year students.  As a member of the First Year Team, the dean helps to develop and administer orientation, supervise peer mentors, advises the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, and provides outreach to a variety of community projects.

Dr. Sarah E. Stokely received her Ph.D. in English, with a specialization in Rhetoric and Composition, from the University of Marlyand.  A former department chair, she has taught numerous first year seminars, proposed and administered a number of grants, and served in various capacities with admissions.

Personal Statement: McDaniel College is a place that shares my philosophy of education as creating an environment and conditions that nurture students in preparing for a life well-lived, a life of service as responsible citizens of their local and global communities.
