Labs and Support Services

All classes in Deaf Education are taught in American Sign Language (ASL). Students requiring a voice interpreter may request one only for any of the four CORE courses.
American Sign Language Lab

The ASL Lab is a support service provided to hearing students to enhance their ASL skills and to deaf students in the ASL Specialist program who need a hands-on lab experience with learners of ASL as a second language. The lab provides one-on-one and small group tutoring as well as targeted skill workshops. There is a $25 fee per semester for this lab.
English Lab

The English Lab (EL) is a support service provided for deaf students to enhance their writing skills. The lab provides writing/editing support, gives help in conforming term and research papers to APA style, and conducts workshops on a variety of writing techniques. Lab schedules vary each semester. Hours are posted on the lab door, on the sign-up sheets outside of the lab, and through the McDaniel College "thezone" listserv. Students may make half-hour or full-hour appointments for editing or writing consultations. There is a $25 fee per semester for this service.
Interpreting Services
