Frequently Asked Questions
What is a cohort and how does it work?
A cohort is a unique group experience in which you join with 20 to 25 other students to move through the sequence of courses together. This innovative approach to graduate education allows for cooperative learning throughout the program and facilitates the development of teamwork, interpersonal skills, and important professional networks.
How and when do I register for classes?
HRD students register for classes online using the Archway. Applications will be reviewed up to two weeks prior to the start of a cohort.
Do I have to go through the entire program without a break?
Due to the nature of the cohort experience, we recommend that students remain with their cohort throughout the program. However, breaks may be taken at the end of a course if necessary.
When do classes meet?
Classes meet Wednesdays 7-10pm and Saturdays 9am-noon.
How long does it take to complete the program?
Students can complete the 42 hours of coursework and the portfolio project within a three-year period.
Where is the program offered?
New cohorts begin in September at the McDaniel College campus in Westminster, MD, and in February at the Anne Arundel County Community College building at Arundel Mills in Hanover, MD.
