Admission Requirements
Initial Admission
- Bachelor's degree from accredited institution (minimum 3.0 undergraduate GPA).*
- An academic background appropriate for study in the chosen field.
- A completed graduate application and fee.
- Three letters of recommendation.
*Prospective students not meeting this criterion may be admitted to the program on a conditional basis (such applicants may be asked to submit a writing sample). Matriculation status will be reviewed upon completion of nine graduate credits.
Full Admission
- Satisfactory completion of 3 courses (9 credits) in the program (maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA).
- A brief, written rationale—accompanying the self-designed program of study—submitted for the coordinator's approval prior to the completion of 3 courses (9 credits) in the program.
Degree Requirements
- 37 semester hours (including a one-credit research methods course added to the curriculum for students entering in or after Fall 2009).
- Minimum 3.0 GPA, limit of one course at or below "C."
- Completion of a six-credit Final Project, equivalent in scope to a master’s thesis.
