Athletes earn accolades in the 2006 Centennial Conference
Drew Abbamonte ’07 named to CC football team
Twenty-eight McDaniel College student athletes have been named to the 2006 Centennial Conference (CC) Fall Academic Honor Roll. To be nominated for the honor roll, a student athlete must be a starter or key reserve, be of sophomore standing or higher, and have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.40.

Four members of the McDaniel College football team were named to the 2006 CC team. They include Drew Abbamonte ’07, Tom Wenrich ’07 and Derek Zabko ’08. Rob Jones ’07 was tabbed as an honorable mention.

Michelle Mullen ’07 and Sarah Wallace ’08, two members of the McDaniel College women’s soccer team, have been named to the 2006 CC team.

Three members of the McDaniel College field hockey team have been named to the 2006 CC team. They include Carolanne Bianco ’07, Colleen Nugent ’07, and Brooke Dixon ’09. Bianco has also been named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III All-South Region second team.

In women’s basketball, Katy Powell ’07 scored nine of her career high-tying 25 points in the final 6:18 to lead McDaniel to an 81-78 come-from-behind victory Nov. 18 over York College in the consolation game of the Coaches vs. Cancer tip-off tournament.
McDaniel returns to action Nov. 21 at 7:30 p.m. at Lebanon Valley.

In men’s wrestling, Ryan Deiter ’09 finished sixth in the heavyweight bracket to lead McDaniel to a 12th-place finish Nov. 18 at the Navy Classic. The Green Terror finished with 15.5 points. The host midshipmen won the 13-team tournament with 148.5 points. McDaniel returns to action Dec. 9 at the Ohio Northern Invitational.

In men’s basketball, Ryan Finch drilled game-winning 3-pointer with 6.2 seconds left to lead McDaniel to a 59-56 victory over Lebanon Valley Nov. 17. The team returns to action Nov. 21 at 7:30 p.m. at home.

McDaniel College lost in men’s basketball game against Hood College, women’s swimming against Franklin & Marshall College, and men’s swimming against Franklin & Marshall.
