The EPE department offers the sports coaching minor for those students who want to coach in public and private schools and agencies. Students learn the psychological principles that relate to motor learning and performance motivation as well as the basic principles and theories of coaching. Most sports coaching students get practical experience in coaching, many through internships. Students interested in pursuing a minor in Sports Coaching should discuss their plans with their academic advisor. Students completing the Sport Coaching minor must complete the following requirements:
MINOR IN SPORTS COACHING (20-21 HRS.)
EPE 1141 Fundamentals of Exercise & Conditioning - not required for EPE Majors (1 credit)
EPE 1245 Sport in American Society
EPE 2225 Prevention & Care of Athletic Injuries
EPE 2238 Sports Coaching & Management
EPE 2240 Sport Behavior
PSY 2209 Child & Adolescent Development
