Physical Education Program Earns National Recognition
McDaniel College's physical education teacher education minor, within the Department of Exercise Science & Physical Education recently received Nationally Recognized status through the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and the National Association for Sport and Physical Activity (NASPE). NCATE and NASPE are the accrediting bodies for colleges and universities that prepare teachers and other professional personnel for work in elementary and secondary schools. This peer review process ensures that accredited institutions produce competent, caring and qualified teachers and other professional school personnel who can help all students learn. (NCATE, 2002 Standards). Students completing the physical education minor are eligible for Maryland certification as a physical education teacher.
