Acceptance to the Education minor is not done by declaration as most minors are.  To be formally admitted candidates must:

• complete with C or better, EDU 1141 Teaching and Learning in a Diverse Society,
  
• complete with C or better EDU 2015* Processes and Acquisition of Reading (elementary) or
  EDU 2240* Planning and Evaluating Instruction (secondary),
  
• have passing scores on Praxis I Reading, Writing and Mathematics, and
  
• complete a candidacy application form.
  

*all candidates entering their first school based practicum must have a criminal background check complete prior to any internship. Notification disclosures must come directly to McDaniel College through fingerprinting and disclosures.

Candidates in the minor must complete an approved education Jan Term internship in an ethnically diverse classroom setting.
In order to continue in the minor, candidates must earn a grade of C or better in all EDU prefix courses and all other certificaiton requirement courses.
