The Green Terror Army ROTC battalion, consisting of cadets from McDaniel College, Mount Saint Mary’s University and Hood College, was recognized at the Professors of Military Science Conference Nov. 29 as one of the top programs in the country for commissioning future Army officers during the 2005-2006 school year.
“Through Lieutenant Colonel Brian Feser’s leadership, guidance and vision, we’ve turned a program that was a moderate producer of lieutenants into one of the best programs in the country,” says Captain Paul Gump.
In 2007, 15 lieutenants are expected to graduate. Over the three years after that, as many as 44 lieutenants may graduate and be commissioned.
That achievement earned the Green Terror program a Louisville Slugger bat and a trophy at an awards banquet held at Nashville’s Gaylord Opryland Hotel, the site of the conference. Lieutenant Colonel Feser, battalion commander and professor of Military Science, accepted the award on behalf of the program.
At the annual conference, professors of Military Science throughout the Eastern Region’s 132 programs share ideas for increasing the number of cadets in their ROTC programs. The eastern region is part of U.S. Army Cadet Command, based at Fort Monroe, Va. The command produces more Army officers than any other commissioning source.
