Madame Sadat sends strong message to McDaniel women

Empowerment of women is one of the greatest challenges facing the Arab world, former Egyptian first lady Jehan Sadat told a group of 1,100 in Baltimore Nov. 30. Attending the event were members of the McDaniel Women’s Leadership Network (MWLN) who also participated in a facilitated discussion on “Are Women Changing Power or is Power Changing Women?” led by Dr. Christianna Nichols Leahy, associate professor of political science and international studies. » Full Story

At a crime scene, Cody Crutchley ’09 can identify blood types and lift fingerprints and footprints. Hoping to make a career of studying the criminal mind, the Psychology and Sociology double major with minors in Forensic Science and Sports Science has won a competitive internship with the FBI. » Full Story

In Centennial Conference (CC) men¹s basketball Dec. 2, McDaniel beat Ursinus 76-75 in overtime. The game featured 18 ties and 11 lead changes. » Full Story

Recent graduates Jessica Watson ’05 and Kenny Ditto ’06 share a passion for art, but go about creating it in vastly different ways. Christmas tree lighting commemoration
McDaniel College commemorated the 50th anniversary of the Christmas tree lighting Dec. 3 after the annual Choir Concert. Before he lit the towering spruce in front of Baker Memorial Chapel, College Historian and Professor of Mathematics Emeritus James Lightner explained the significance of the tradition, which began in 1956. » Full Story

Curtis Wharton ’10 left South Korea when he was three months old for an adoptive family in Maryland. He jumped at the chance to return when his family signed up for a “Korea Homeland Tour” for adopted children. » Full Story

Greg Wagner ’07 sets on the mound. He kicks his leg and throws a cutting fastball on the outside corner. In a split second, the left-hander moves his glove onto his throwing hand, prepared to field a batted ball.
