The Green Terror Battalion Newsletter
Month of March 2008
Army Values
Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, Personal Courage. As ROTC Cadets we have an obligation to live the Army Values everyday, not just when we feel like it. As leaders of our schools and future leaders of the nation, every Cadet must take heart in the fact that our individual actions not only affect ourselves, but also the reputations of our colleges and universities, the McDaniel ROTC program and the Army.
Battalion Website
MS IIIs and those Cadets going to Army schools this summer, remember to take advantage of the Resources Section on the website. Whether you need to check out Army FM’s, download a terrain model kit, or just want some advice from Cadets who have participated in Airborne, LDAC, or CTLT, the Resource Section has the information. MS IIIs should definitely view the Battle Drill Animations to reference when conducting STX Lanes at LDAC. There are also tons of pictures of this year’s training to view and download. As always, the Green Terror Battalion website is located at www.mcdaniel.edu/rotc.htm.

Although we have already taken a diagnostic APFT, do not allow yourself to become complacent and slack off during PT as the record APFT will be here before you know it. Enrollment, Retention, & Scholarship
SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AVAILABLE TO UNDERGRADUATE AND GRADUATE STUDENTS FOR LTC! These are 2.5 year LTC Scholarships. Cadets are our best representation on campus and should always be on the lookout for new members. For Cadets who bring in applicants that attend and graduate LTC, these Cadets will receive $200. If you are currently enrolled in the program, are not contracted, and meet the qualifications for a campus-based scholarship; check into the available scholarships. Also, make it be known to all potential Cadets that we have LTC scholarships ready and waiting for them.

Battalion Commander’s Corner:
Finally, the spring semester is upon us. In the coming months the operations tempo is going to pick up drastically. The main focus will be on the juniors as they will be heading to LDAC this summer. However, I encourage any underclassman to volunteer in any way they can. Not only will this help their fellow cadets but the probability of learning something useful and new is high. There are a number of FTXs in April and every Saturday seniors will conduct a semi formal “lab” for any who wish to come.
Congratulations to those of you who have passed the APFT. Meeting the Army standard is important but I challenge everyone to surpass the standards and embrace the ROTC motto, “Leadership, Excellence”! Give 100% of yourselves and see what that looks like. You will find that little changes in your life will yield huge results with the APFT.
Three things you will hear repeatedly in your short ROTC careers are academics, physical training, and LDAC performance. These three things will help determine military future. If any of you needs any extra assistance in any of these three areas, let anyone in the Green Terror Battalion know and accommodations will be made.
Never leave a fallen comrade!

Command Sergeant Major’s Corner:
Last semester went pretty well but this semester we need to stop making the same old mistakes. You are going to be an officer; that means that your standards have to be higher, not lower or on par with, but higher than the troops that you will lead. If any of you think that right now you have more motivation than an NCO who has been in the Army for 17 years, you need to re-evaluate yourself. We are a cut above the rest of our fellow students, so start acting like it. Shave every day, it takes two minutes, get in shape, because nobody respects fat people, trust me I know, and stop drinking if you are underage, because it is illegal.
For those that do not know the Cadet Creed, read it and live it. I don’t care if you memorize it but understand it, because it tells you how you should conduct yourself and why. If I had to sum it up with the most important phrase it would be “honor is my touchstone.” Always remember to conduct yourself with honor, because your actions represent not only yourself but also the Army.
Go Army beat Navy!
