
Jonathan Slade received his BA in Communication from McDaniel College in 1988, and his MFA in Cinema-Television Production from the University of Southern California in 1991. For 11 years, he was a full-time producer of documentaries and children’s programming at Maryland Public Television where he received four Emmy Awards for the educational “Vid Kid” series (
mpt.org) he created, wrote, directed, and produced. His debut feature film “Forest for the Trees” (
imdb.com) screened at theaters in the mid-Atlantic region in 1998.
Slade became a full-time member of the Communication department in 2003 where he specializes in mass communication, film history, scriptwriting, and video production. In 2006, he spent a semester teaching documentary production in Budapest, Hungary. He and his wife Novia live in Lineboro, Maryland where they are trying their best to restore a 115 year old house.
