Federal Work Study

Federal Work-Study (FWS) is a federally funded program which provides part-time jobs to eligible undergraduate degree-seeking students while they are enrolled in school. FWS positions are located on and off-campus, and many provide a much needed service to members within the local community.  These positions are available during the fall and spring terms of the academic year.  Students may not earn more than their scheduled award during the academic year in which they were awarded.

In order to be considered for FWS, students must have:

  • A valid Student Aid Report (SAR) for the current academic year;
  • A full-time enrollment status for each eligible term;
  • Aid available within their student budget
  • Authorization card must be certified by the Financial Aid Office and signed by the hiring supervisor*
  • All required forms must be submitted to the Financial Aid Office
  • Funds are limited. Students are responsible for obtaining employment on/off campus and monitoring the hours worked per week.

    *If student is employed with two departments, two authorization cards are required

Make sure all your payroll paperwork is complete. You will not be paid unless all documents are received. Contact Financial Services at 410-857-2737 or in Thompson Hall if you have questions.

FWS Jobs are still available in the Community Service program. See the Federal Work Study page for a listing.  The FWS Community Service jobs are paid positions within the Westminster Community.  The Federal Government requires schools to offer community service jobs to their students which are administered like the regular FWS program. Students are paid minimum wage.

Students contact the departments directly about these positions. Please click here for job postings.
