McDaniel welcomes new advancement officer
Lawrence Read Junkin is joining the staff of McDaniel College as associate vice president of development, with oversight for the operational organization of the College's fundraising program. 

Junkin comes to McDaniel from Pennsylvania's Westtown School. Starting in 1997 he served as the chief advancement officer and was responsible for securing major and planned gifts for a wide range of capital projects including a new $10-million athletic facility and increasing annual giving for a record five years. 

He also has professional experience as a consultant for Ketchum, Inc. of Pittsburgh, where, as managing director, he advised clients on broad-based activities related to securing philanthropic support ranging from campaign planning to volunteer training. 

"His expertise and experience will enhance our ability to develop valuable relationships and engage partners in building the College's future," said Rich Kief, vice president for Institutional Advancement. 

Junkin earned a bachelor's degree in political science at the College of Wooster and completed a graduate-level certificate program in management from the George Washington University. He holds memberships in several professional associations including the Council of Advancement and Support of Education and is a certified fund raising executive.
