Yael Stein, the academic coordinator of the Atidim program at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem’s School of Public Policy, will speak at the seventh annual Resnick lecture about human rights and international humanitarian law regarding the complexities of the situation in Israel.

Stein, a Ph.D. candidate in the School of Public Policy at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, received her master’s degree from the Institute of Commonwealth Studies of London University to which she had a British Council Chevening Scholarship. Her law degree and LL.B. are from the Hebrew University, Faculty of Law.
The Atidim program that she coordinates provides skills in public policy, public service and civic responsibility to outstanding students from disadvantaged backgrounds who are studying for their B.A.
Previously, Stein was the Research Director at B’Tselem, The Israeli Information Center for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories. She had a legal clerkship at the Israel Religious Action Center, where she wrote legal opinions regarding state and religious issues for petitions submitted to the High Court of Israel.
Stein is a member of the Human Rights Committee of the Israeli Bar Association and a Board Member of “Defense for Children International.”
The Resnick lecture is part of a series established in 1999 by Alvin and Elaine Mintzes to honor their friends, Alleck A. and Harriet S. Resnick.
