Four members of the McDaniel College field hockey team have been named to the 2006 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) National Academic Squad. Carolanne Bianco ’07 and Stephanie Capps ’07 joined Michelle Fluty ’09 and Emily Ardolino ’10. To become a member of the squad, a student-athlete must have achieved a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.3 through the fall semester of the 2006-07 academic year.
In the baseball season opener March 10, Tom Wenrich ’07 and Justin Reitz ’09 each tallied three hits with a double and two runs scored to lead McDaniel to a 13-9 victory over North Park at the Russmatt Greater Phoenix Invitational. The Green Terror returns to action March 17 in a doubleheader against Roger Williams in Phoenix. The first game begins at 12:30 p.m. mountain time.
In non-conference women’s lacrosse March 9, Connie Wuenschel ’06 recorded a career high – tying six points on four goals and two assists to lead McDaniel to a 16-9 victory over Goucher. McDaniel returns to action at 7 p.m. March 13 against Montclair State in Wellington, Fla. In men’s lacrosse, Jared Nutter ’07 recorded his second multi-goal game in as many times this year, leading McDaniel March 3 in an 11-4 victory over Moravian.
In women’s softball March 10, the Green Terror beat Suffolk 8-0 but lost to Rowan 3-15. The team is on its spring trip to Kissimmee, Fla.
Drew Winfield ’09 concluded his wrestling season with a sixth-place finish in the 174-pound weight class March 3 to earn All-America status at the 2007 NCAA Division III national wrestling championships.
