HOTT PROSPECTS
During her junior year, Communication major Lauren Schneider took an unforgettable Jan term trip to Belize, along with her two best friends, Jennifer Goldstein and Tyler Falcone. This Pom Dance team captain will miss performing at the football and basketball halftimes with Jordan Williams and Jessica Volz, but she has plenty to cheer about in her future. Schneider is interning with the radio station Hott 99.5 and plans to work in marketing and promotions.

OF TEACHING & BEACHING
Like the flamingos that she loves, Betsy Beveridge’s best college memories center on the water. The English and Theatre Arts double major from the hills of Nashville, Tenn., will always remember spending College breaks at Bethany Beach with Jason Fratto, Allison Dower and Maggie Ross. After graduation, Beveridge plans to stay in Maryland and work in education administration. But first, she’ll vacation in Disney World. First stop, Magic Kingdom.

A TEEN-GENE ROMANCE
Victoria Lloyd
plans to earn her master’s degree in genetic counseling and marry her high school sweetheart, Anthony Stinnett.

SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING - OLDER?
We haven’t asked Civil War re-enactor Laura Reichert if she’ll be in period clothing when she marries longtime love Joe Rogers this summer, but it would not surprise her friends. The English major and Education minor will begin student teaching in the fall.

FIRST LADY OF LETTERS
History major Ashley Kretzer is most proud of her senior seminar paper, entitled “Remember the Letters: An Evaluation of the Correspondences of John and Abigail Adams.” She was asked to present the paper at this year’s Phi Alpha Theta Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference.

DOWN TO BUSINESS
Business Administration major Britnie Greene plans to work in marketing and earn an M.B.A. Business Administration and Economics double major Heather Donhauser is proud to be graduating with honors and with two majors, even though she didn’t start them until her sophomore year.

SPANISH MAJORS’ HELPING HANDS
Spanish major Laura Miller is most proud of having formed the group Mano en Mano, which works with Latino children and families in Carroll county. Jeff Zamostny was proud to have been able to use his Spanish skills to help Spanish speakers learn English in Palabras to Words and Global Friendships. Zamostny heads to the University of Kentucky-Louisville to earn his Ph.D. in Spanish.

WEARING SUCCESS ON HIS SLEEVE
Exercise Science major Neal Stokes didn’t win the Mr. McDaniel competition at Spring Fling, but it didn’t matter for this business whiz. He plans to start personal training in his hometown of Germantown and open his own gym one day. Stokes also plans to expand his thriving T-shirt business through vendors and the Internet.

CSI PHILADELPHIA
Sociology and Psychology major Pat O’Toole accepted the Brant Cup for Alpha Sigma Phi two years in a row. After graduation, he’ll pursue his Master of Science in Criminology at the University of Pennsylvania.

FAKE TREE, TRUE FRIENDSHIPS
Decorating their artificial Christmas tree was just one of the many bonding activities that brought together apartment-mates Kathleen Woodward, Melissa Magnuson, Lindsey Grieb, Chelsea Phillips, Heather Williams, and Melanie Scocco. The six had so much fun they decided to redecorate the tree for Valentines Day, St. Patrick’s Day and Easter. After graduation, Woodward, a Biology major, will start a physician assistant program at Arcadia University. History and Political Science major Phillips will intern with the Family Research Council in Washington, D.C.

CLASS ACT
Jamie Ridgely loved being president of the Commuter Student Association and planning activities with Alex Barnold and Laura Miller. After graduation, she’ll student teach a third-grade class at William Winchester Elementary, then earn her master’s as a media specialist and work as a school librarian.

THANKS FOR BEING THERE, AND THERE
Biology major Patrick Linz will always cherish his adventures with best friend and Chemistry major Diana Burke – from eating crawfish in New Orleans to road tripping in Tennessee.

SWEAT MEMORIES
Erin Wilson and Molly Bolek will always remember working on a Habitat for Humanity project in Baltimore during their sophomore year. They helped gut houses that were being refurbished for low-income families. “By the end of the day, we were cold, tired and wet from the rain but it was a great feeling and one of the best Saturdays I have spent at college,” says Wilson, who will work for Northrop Grumman after graduation.

FROM PAPRIKASH TO POPTARTS
Josh Russin remembers his first moments abroad in Budapest with Andy Cummings. “Our first exposure to Hungary was seeing a lanky guy with really short hair (Djerdj Matkovic) holding a sign with our names on it.” The three remain great friends and roomed together senior year, along with Steve Furst.

YOU GOTTA HEAR THIS ONE
Kristen Ion and Suzanne Lester will never forget the joke they played on Jamie Nash on April Fool’s day freshman year. They “borrowed” Nash’s car and sent her a letter saying it had been impounded because she didn’t pay her parking tickets. Ion will continue her studies at McDaniel and next spring become the first to graduate from the recently established five-year program with a bachelor’s in Music Education and a master’s degree in Education.

FAITHFUL FRIENDS
Stacy Fitzwater met some of her closest friends on the Hill before classes ever got underway. Before freshman year, she attended the College Catholic Campus Ministry’s first freshman retreat, along with Theresa Hess, Jennifer Harrington and Rob Goeke. The group has welcomed incoming freshmen every year since and are sure to remain close after graduation.

IVY-BOUND
After graduation, Biochemistry and Biology major Adam Trexler will attend Yale, where he will earn his Ph.D. in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry. In his years on the Hill, he served as a lab instructor and writing tutor, and performed research at Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Maryland Medical School.

MED SCHOOL Rx
Teri Hamer, who graduates with a self-designed Neuroscience major, chose NYU School of Medicine from more than 7 offers from highly competitive graduate schools. She plans to either become a neurologist or an OB/GYN. But it’s not all work for Hamer. Her favorite Hill memory was an early-morning balloon fight in the quad with Stacy Fitzwater, Jesse Feldman, Tom Shortridge and Frank Ingellis.

CARIBBEAN CLASS
Sociology major Melissa Magnuson loved the Jan Term trip to Belize her sophomore year. “Every year has been very different, and I’ve really enjoyed all of them and all the crazy and amazing people I’ve become friends with over the years.” She would like to do investigative work for the government.

ROUND-THE-CLOCK LEARNING
Political Science major Jason Stambaugh will always remember the late-night conversations with friends he had on the Hill about life, logic, politics and religion.

GOOD NEWS
It may have taken English major David Greisman eight years to earn his degree, but he made every minute worthwhile by soaking in lessons from English faculty members LeRoy Panek, Pam Regis, Terry Dalton and Lisa Breslin. Greisman has been working as a professional journalist for years, freelancing at the Baltimore Sun, Carroll Magazine, and many other places.

MASTER OF MULTITASKING
Sociology major Lindsay Musgrave is most proud of the fact that as a commuter student, she was able to earn her bachelor’s degree while working, playing recreational sports, as well as having a family. “Ideally, I’d like to have a career that helps people and contributes to society. However, my only long-term, concrete plan is for my husband and I to provide a comfortable and stable life for our daughter and possible future children in the hopes of raising happy, healthy children into happy, healthy adults.”

PICTURE THIS
Art major Ben Kauffman will always remember sitting on the wall outside of Blanche Ward Hall, singing country songs until 1 a.m. with his friends Josh Fraley, Tim Clare, Chris Smith and Jeff Million. Kauffman, a graphic artist, plans to work with images and ads for magazines.

TO SERVE WITH LOVE
Social Work major Deborah Goff leaves behind a legacy of service. In 2006, she spearheaded a community garden for seniors and students, which won the prestigious “Take Pride in America” national award. In 2007, as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, she led the organization’s first Turbo Turtle Splash fundraiser. Next up, Goff will earn her master’s degree in Social Work at the University of Maryland.

RINGING IN & OUT
At graduation, Rachel DeCosse will be remembering her first moments at McDaniel. Specifically, ringing the Old Main bell. “Every time I see it I remember what it was like on that day and think of all the possibilities. It was an amazing beginning to this chapter in life.” The  bell just rang again, heralding another new chapter for the Philosophy and Political Science double major and her classmates. For DeCosse, that involves moving to Los Angeles to begin an internship at a lobbying firm.

YOU’RE HIRED
Psychology major Colleen Gray will relocate to the D.C. area and work as a recruitment and placement specialist.

SURVIVING A FRESHMAN SLIP-UP
During a snowstorm freshman year, Art major Meghan Ambra, Maggie Ross and Melissa Crudup went sledding on dining hall food trays, which was a lot of fun until Ambra broke her wrist. Luckily, it healed without complications, as Ambra will need her wrist and the rest of her hand to create artwork in graduate school at the Edinburgh College of Art in Scotland next year.
