What is the Matching Gift Benefit?

Gifts made to McDaniel College, through your company's matching gift program, are matched with your corporate foundation funds. As an example, if your gift to McDaniel College is $500 and can be matched by a 1:1 ratio, you will be become a new Founder Society member. Congratulations.

Why are Matching Gift benefits so important?

You may be able to double or even triple your personal contribution and the impact of your gift to McDaniel! Matching gift dollars help the college get the most “bang out of your buck” by supporting higher education initiatives, including the annual fund, scholarships, special projects and other activities that our students rely upon.

How do I secure the Matching Gift Employer funds?

Matching gifts companies now have electronic PDF forms, which you can complete and mail along with your gift to McDaniel College. Check our database to determine if your employer will match your gifts. More than 7,500 parent companies and subsidiaries, currently have a corporate matching gift program. Generally, you can obtain the appropriate form through your employer’s human resources department. Once you complete and sign your form, include your gift (if it hasn’t already been sent), and mail the form to us. We will process the form from there, no further effort on your part. You will receive the additional credit for the matching gift as well, you can’t beat it! Your generosity in securing matching funds, and doubling or even tripling your gift for McDaniel is appreciated and cherished.

Gift too small?

No gift is too small, but your employer will match only the minimum and maximum amount set by your company. Most minimum amounts start at $25 and could go as high as $40,000. For details concerning your Matching Gift benefits, please visit our database.

Can I have my gift matched in consecutive years?

You can have your gift matched every year, but please be aware that many companies have deadlines for matching gift applications. See your Human Resources officer or check out McDaniel’s online matching gift database for details.
