More than 100 writers and illustrators of children’s books gathered recently on McDaniel’s campus to learn from and with each other. 

“It is both learning and energizing,” said Mona Kerby, McDaniel Library Science professor and organizer of the regional Society of Children’s Book Writers and Editors conference.

Some of the participants have published already – for others the big day is still ahead.

“For beginners, they learned about the publishing opportunities and are energized by meeting other writers,” Kerby said. “For more experienced writers, it was a chance to meet face to face and talk with the editors and agents of major (publishing) houses.”
