Available technology services for Students
• Archway:  is an interactive tool that students can use to access selected academic and personal information from the administrative database used by McDaniel College. Students can use Archway to register, find advising information and planning templates, and their official grades

• Atomic Learning: Need help with software packages? Go to: https://www2.mcdaniel.edu/it/email/atomic_login.php for self help tutuorials on hundreds of software packages.

• Blackboard: makes course content materials available 24/7. The system combines many online tools and resources, including e-mail, chat, grades, drop boxes and online discussion boards. Blackboard is designed to enhance student-centered learning and increase peer-to-peer connections. • Classroom technology and Computer Labs: the majority of McDaniel’s classrooms are equipped with ceiling-mounted LCD projectors, speakers, and boxes that hold computers (Windows or mac), monitors, DVD players, and amplifiers. Students may use this equipment for class presentations. Computer Labs can be found in most all academic buildings. • Email: the Google Mail/Educational Apps is now used for email, which is the official means of communication for students. This package includes advanced searching capabilities, spam/message filtering, drag-drop capabilities, and a personal calendar as well as most Google Apps: Doc, Forms, Webpages, Maps. • Helpdesk and Help with your Computer: student support at the help desk includes addressing username and password issues for logging in to e-mail, the Archway or Blackboard, and problems with networking in the residence halls and on the campus wireless network.  For help with those problems, please send your full name, McDaniel ID number and a description of the problem to help@mcdaniel.edu or call 410-871-3390. For problems with connections to the network or computer issues visit Kellie Wuorinen, to the right of the Post Office in Decker Center.

• Internet access: students have access to a 100M ethernet connection in all residential rooms. If you have problems with connectivity, call Kellie Wuorinen at x3328 or visit her in her office to the right of the postoffice. You must sign-up first for gaming connectivity to  Xbox, Playstation, Wii, PSP, and Nintendo consols.

• Qualtrics: is a hosted, online survey creation program. Students may use this program for class and research surveys upon approval by a faculty member or by Chris Mathews.

• Second life: InTech has developed and supports a McDaniel College Second Life Campus. Virtual class spaces are available for faculty and student academic use. Contact Steve Kerby for further information.

• Shared file access:  students can access their personal folders upon login throughout campus.

• Software: although the campus does not provide students with software for their personal computers, there are many open labs available for use throughout the campus.

• Training: The Student Web and Technology Team (SWATT) team of tech-savvy yet approachable students will also assist others with common computer application-related problems in the Maggie Lab (Academic Hall, first floor).

• Wireless access: currently all open spaces through the campus have wifi access. For connection problems, please please contact the HelpDesk immeadiately.
