Computer Lab Access Policy

The Charlson computer lab is located on the 1st floor of Hoover Library. The lab is used for general student access.

During the regular Fall and Spring semesters, the Charlson Lab may be accessed 24-hours a day with the exception of 8:00-10:00am on Thursday mornings when the lab is CLOSED for cleaning and maintenance. Hours during holidays, academic breaks, senior week, and summer are usually the same as the hours of Hoover Library.

The lab is unlocked for student access between 8:00am and 12 midnight. To access the lab after hours, you will need to check out a key card from Hoover Library. Key cards may be kept for up to 72 hours. Overdue keycards are presumed lost and will be deactivated (they will no longer open the lab door). The student will be billed accordingly.

If you encounter problems with the equipment during the normal working hours (M-F, 8:30-4:30), call x3390 (410-871-3390).   After hours, please notify Information Technology by sending an email to help@mcdaniel.edu.

Note: The Library staff is not responsible for assisting users with this lab.

Normally hardware in this lab includes: 25 dual boot iMacs running both Mac OS10.5 and Windows XP, 3 HP  Laserjet printers. At present the number of computers is reduced to 16 as we await additional furniture to complete the recent lab renovation.

Software in this lab includes: Microsoft Office (2007 on Windows, 2008 on Mac), Windows Movie Maker (on Windows), iLife (on Mac).
