Donna Brazile, the first African-American to lead a major presidential campaign, will speak 6:30 p.m. Jan. 30 in WMC Alumni Hall at McDaniel College.
Campaign manager for Gore-Lieberman 2000, Brazile’s keynote speech is part of an annual celebration of the Jan. 16 national holiday honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
The Jan. 30 program "Your Life is Your Message. Live Your Legacy," which is free and open to the public, will also include musical presentations, a litany, and a symbolic candle-lighting ceremony to pay tribute to the accomplishments of Dr. King. Brazile is the founder and managing director of Brazile and Associates LLC, a political consulting and grassroots-organizing firm based in the District of Columbia. She is also the chair of the Democratic National Committee's Voting Rights Institute and an adjunct assistant professor at Georgetown University.
Brazile is the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including Washingtonian magazine's 100 Most Powerful Women in Washington, D.C., and the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation's Award for Political Achievement.
