Biology Department : Assistant Professor, Invertebrate Zoologist

McDaniel College invites applications for a tenure track appointment at the Assistant Professor level in Invertebrate Zoology, with marine emphasis, to begin Fall 2010. Responsibilities include courses in Invertebrate Zoology, Marine Biology and other courses in the applicant’s area of expertise, as well as participation in introductory courses and senior research projects.  Expertise in organismal biology, an interest in field research with undergraduates, and allied expertise in associated fields, perhaps Animal Physiology or Oceanography, will enhance the application. Applicants must be willing to participate in the College’s First Year Seminar and other general education programs.  PhD strongly preferred; ABD required.

The Communication Department at McDaniel College invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level (terminal degree of MFA or Ph.D. preferred, ABD required) beginning Fall 2010. Applicants should be committed to undergraduate teaching and integrative approaches to learning in a research and theory-oriented program. We seek an individual specializing in critical film studies and cinematic storytelling, and who can help expand our film minor into a major. In addition to developing upper-level courses, teaching responsibilities include introduction to media, film analysis, video editing, and production. Ability to teach qualitative research methods is a plus. Teaching load is 3/3. Applicants must be willing to participate in the College’s First Year Seminar and other general education programs.

The Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at McDaniel College invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in Religious Studies with a primary specialization in contemporary Islam (geographical concentration open). In addition to developing and teaching courses on Islam, candidates should be prepared to contribute generally to a program in the study of religions within a secular, liberal arts setting and to participate in interdisciplinary teaching in at least one other field, such as global philosophy, women’s studies, environmental studies, media studies, or post-colonial literature and theory. The Department of Political Science and International Studies invites applications for a tenure-track position in International Relations at the Assistant Professor level, to begin in Fall 2010. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in International Relations including core courses: International Law and Organizations, Approaches to International Relations, United States National Security, U.S. Foreign Policy, as well as Scope and Methods of Political Science Research.
