Fearless and Bold: A History of McDaniel College

1867 College founded as Western Maryland College

1871 First graduating class (this class produced seven alumni, four men and three women)

1872 Alumni Association established

1874 First Master of Arts degrees were conferred

1893 Publication of the first yearbook – Aloha

1899 Alumni Hall is completed and formally dedicated

1914 Alumni Bulletin created by the Alumni Association

1958 Student Life Council was created

1967 WMC celebrates its 100th anniversary

1967 The Hill, WMC Alumni Magazine established

1978 1st Annual Sports Hall of Fame induction held

1979 Alumni Hall is re-dedicated after a three year renovation project

1985 The Fellowship of Champions was authorized to honor excellence in intercollegiate sports

1994 Western Maryland College Budapest was established.

2002 Changed the College name from Western Maryland College to McDaniel College, in honor of William Roberts McDaniel and his 65-year association with the College.
