Enriching the Student Experience

Learning $20 - $23 million

Preparing students to become thoughtful, creative citizens of a world community.

Scholarships ($14–$16 million)
Scholarships support students by helping with the cost of private higher education and enabling McDaniel to educate students from diverse ethnic, racial, income, and family backgrounds. These endowed funds will provide scholarships averaging approximately $12,500 to 36 students per year in perpetuity.

Student-Faculty Research ($1–$2 million)
Student-Faculty Research is an invaluable and distinctive part of the McDaniel College experience, which can be expanded and enriched through funding that supports
students conducting summer research, the equipment and technology as well as travel required, and student attendance at professional conferences to present research findings.

Learning Outside the Classroom
INTERNSHIPS AND CAREER SERVICES ($1 million)
Internships and Career Services provide important preparation for careers and professions as well as personal contacts. These experiences will be expanded through increasing the number of internships, and creating an office of internships and experiential learning.

OUTREACH AND COMMUNITY SERVICE ($1 million)
Community service development needs endowment
support to establish an office for promotion, recognition and coordination of student volunteer opportunities; programming for speakers and training workshops in volunteering, and travel funding to support student attendance at regional and national community service conferences.

BUDAPEST AND STUDY ABROAD ($1 million)
Budapest and Study Abroad provide students an experience that is essential to a 21st-century liberal arts education. To increase participation in McDaniel College Budapest in Hungary and 27 other programs, the endowment will help support students who would not be able to otherwise participate, provide faculty incentives to develop study abroad opportunities during January Term, summer or regular semesters, and fund the International Programs Office.

LECTURES AND CULTURAL EVENTS ($1 million)
Lectures and Cultural Events bring nationally prominent speakers, guest artists and soloists to campus, creating a more robust campus life that enhances our students’ educational experience and reaches out to the local and Baltimore-Washington regional community.

Writing Center and Programs ($1 million)
The Writing Center and Programs create an endowed fund to help develop students’ writing skills through access to tutors and customized programs now that planned new curriculum requirements emphasize writing across all majors.
