At this traditional campus event, the president of the senior class, as the symbolic representative of her peers, will be invested in academic regalia, and students are recognized for their outstanding achievements. Read the article.
Baccalaureate Service
Friday, May 22, at 7:30 p.m.
Baker Memorial Chapel
An interfaith service with students, faculty, and staff participating. Beginning with an academic procession, the service will include the traditional "surprise" speaker from the faculty.
ROTC Commissioning Ceremony
Saturday, May 23, at 8:30 a.m.
WMC Alumni Hall
The guest speaker will be McDaniel alumnus Major General David B. Lacquement, who since 2003, is the Director of Intelligence, U..S. Southern Command in Miami, FL.
Commencement
Saturday, May 23, at 2:00 p.m.
(until approximately 4:15 p.m.)
Gill Center
The 139th Commencement will begin with a procession from Baker Memorial Chapel through Memorial Plaza and the ringing of Old Main Bell, through the campus quadrangle and into Gill Center. In addition to the 600 students receiving their baccalaureate or master’s degrees, presentations will be made to the recipients of the Argonaut (highest g.p.a.) and Ridington Writing Award (best senior paper). Honorary degrees will be presented to Dr. Steven Spinelli, Jr. '77, President of Philadelphia University and Dr. Ferenc Somogyi, College trustee and Ambassador of the Republic of Hungary to the United States.
The Gill Center will open at 12:30 p.m. Seating is on a first-come, first-seated basis. Tickets are required.
