Annual Senior Investiture & Honors Convocation
Sunday, May 1, at 2 p.m.
Baker Memorial Chapel

At this traditional campus event, the president of the senior class, as the symbolic representative of her peers, will be invested in academic regalia, and students are recognized for their outstanding achievements. Trustee Alumni awardees are Susanne Laws Haga ’94, senior policy scientist and assistant research professor at Duke University’s Institute of Genome Sciences and Policy; Erin Thompson Strovel ’93, assistant professor of Pediatrics at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and director of the Pediatric Biochemical Genetics Laboratory; and Beth Sullivan, assistant professor in Molecular Genetics and Microbiology at Duke University’s Institute of Genome Sciences and Policy.. Baccalaureate Service
Friday, May 20, at 7:30 p.m.
Baker Memorial Chapel

An interfaith service with students, faculty, and staff participating. Beginning with an academic procession, the service will include the traditional "surprise" speaker from the faculty.


ROTC Commissioning Ceremony
Saturday, May 21, at 9:30 a.m.
WMC Alumni Hall

Graduating McDaniel seniors who are members of the College’s Army ROTC program will be commissioned as second lieutenants into the U.S. Army. McDaniel has had an Army ROTC program since 1919.


Commencement
Saturday, May 21, at 2:00 p.m.
(until approximately 4:15 p.m.)
Gill Center

The 141st Commencement will begin with a procession from Baker Memorial Chapel through Memorial Plaza and the ringing of Old Main Bell, through the campus quadrangle and into Gill Center. In addition to the 600 students receiving their baccalaureate or master’s degrees, presentations will be made to the recipients of the Argonaut (highest g.p.a.) and Ridington Writing Award (best senior paper). Honorary degrees will be presented to Rebecca Hoffberger, founder and director of the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore, and Irene Lewis, artistic director of CENTERSTAGE in Baltimore.

The Gill Center will open at 12:30 p.m. Seating is on a first-come, first-seated basis. Tickets are required.
