- Turn on power switch (red button) on treadmills. Push quickstart button on treadmills. On all other cardio equipment simply begin movement and the LED screen will prompt you to enter information. Use the manual, quickstart or default program. Enter your time, speed, incline, etc.
- Make sure seat is adjusted comfortably on the bike.
- On weight machines – set the appropriate weight by placing the pin into position and turning the dial to add increments of 5, 10 or 15 pounds. Adjust the seat height and back pad. Align moving body part with the axis of rotation.
- On all exercise machines – read the caution warnings and instructions carefully. Learn how to safely stop the machine. Refer to charts and diagrams on the equipment.
- Make sure you properly position your body and safely complete a range of movement that is appropriate for your body.
- Support your back against pads when available.
- Avoid locking out your joints during the movement. Do not hyperextend.
- Start slowly and gradually progress.
- Immediately stop exercise if you feel faint, nauseous, extreme pain or abnormal breathing.
