In all cases, the McDaniel College community is encouraged to report crimes, emergencies, and suspicious activities to DoCS, and when appropriate and possible, to the Residence Life staff. DoCS will investigate and render all aid possible consistent with the training of the officer responding and legal requirements. When the resources of outside agencies are required, DoCS and the College will contact them in an effort to provide maximum service to the campus community.

The Department of Campus Safety monitors the radio dispatches of the Westminster City Police Department and the County dispatcher for fire and emergency medical calls (ambulances). These agencies can be reached in an emergency by dialing 9-911. The Department of Campus Safety can be reached by dialing ext. 2202 on any campus phone, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
It is requested that anyone contacting 911 also contact DoCS. This allows someone besides the original caller to be aware of the emergency so that additional information can be provided should the 911 operator not be able to reach you.
Notifying DoCS of all possible crimes on campus allows us to keep other students and employees informed of situations that may threaten the campus community and to maintain accurate statistics of on-campus incidents, such as those posted on this website. With accurate information, College support personnel can better arrange resources and services and the College can take any preventative actions or measures that may be necessary.
